Building up over time. Tuning into and managing other peoples ideas/voices

VERVE is about timing, having fun and developing and shifting habits.

We use video to catch your child being themselves with you, doing whatever they like to do, in the way that you and they normally do it.

The video can be them at their ‘best’ and/or them at their most ‘challenging’. It can be filmed when we are together or you can bring a video from home. Your child can carry on playing while we look back at the video and watch what they are currently doing to communicate and learn.

At the same time we can talk through the things that are most meaningful and important to you as a family.

By providing quiet times daily and responding to behaviours we want to grow and in being predictable and consistent we provide a spring from which your child's confidence develops.

By staying steady and  taking one thing at a time each child becomes more and more confident and in control of their own learning and interactions and in their management of other peoples contributions. They seek and build new skills tidily on the old.

Having done so with you, so they start to use those same skills with other family members, friends, adults and in new situations.

Having ‘tuned’ in to voice through face watching each child starts to be able to be able to process more when not face watching as all of us do. However, if we can still hold face watching at the heart, then we know they are optimally supported in all other situations
